We plan and organize various events throughout the year to educate, inform, entertain and enlighten our members as well as members of the community. Some of the activities are described on this page. You may check out our Current Events page to find out details about current events.
BANQUET
NCOSWA holds an Annual Banquet in October to celebrate Nigeria's Independence. This event usually celebrates Nigerian culture and history with addresses, music, dance, awards and recognition, cultural dances, display of art works, and good food. Click here to view photos from previous banquets.
ANNUAL SUMMER PICNIC
NCOSWA organizes a summer picnic every August. Nigerians, Nigerian-Americans and friends of Nigeria bring their families to the park for relaxation, games and entertainment. People are encouraged to bring Nigerian, African and American food to share with others. Click here to view photos from previous picnics.
The association holds a Christmas party every year. Members, their families and other invitees enjoy an evening together and give out gifts to the children.
We honor mothers on their special day with a lunch at a local restaurant.
PRESENTIONS AND ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS
NCOSWA occasionally invites speakers to give presentations on various topics to the group. It also sponsors round table discussions for members of the organization, other Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to come together in a semi-formal set-up to brainstorm and discuss topical issues affecting Nigeria.
